I am a graduate of the University of Kentucky College of Dentistry and completed my specialty
training in orthodontics at Harvard University School of Dental Medicine and have also served
on the faculty at the dental schools of the University of North Carolina, University of
Kentucky, University of Louisville, and Harvard University. I am a member of the American
Dental Association, Southern Association of Orthodontists, North Carolina Association of

I have a select, highly-trained and motivated group of staff members that help me provide
services for my patients. We believe firmly in continuing education for doctor and staff
which enables us to give the highest level of professional orthodontic care.

My career in orthodontics started on Valentines day in 1994. I worked for Dr. Thompson, another orthodontist in Shelby, NC until our practice joined with Dr. Brown’s in February 2002. I started as a sterilization technician and later became an assistant. Working directly with the patients is very rewarding because we see the patients on a regular basis and get to watch the incredible changes to their smiles. I really love working with the patients and all the staff.
I am married to Bob. We have 3 great children: Christen is 21 and a senior at UNCC. Jaron is 18 and a freshman at Appalachian State University. Tyler is 12 and is in his first year of middle school. I love reading and singing at church with my husband and daughter.

Many learning experiences have accumulated in my life since beginning employment with Dr. Brown in July of 1984 .My employment began as Front Desk Appointment Secretary /Receptionist. As the practice has grown I have worn many hats that have been most helpful in my current position as Office Coordinator.
I have enjoyed seeing our patients grow while learning to enjoy their new smile. I have been able to see these same patients bring their own children to Dr. Brown to "straighten their teeth and make them smile".
I became a widow after leukemia took my husband of 25 years. But my daughter Heather, son-in-law Wes and my granddaughter Piper fill a lot of my time. I sing in my church choir, enjoy Bluegrass Music Festivals and MC at some of them. I enjoy meeting people and the challenge of my world.

I came to work for Dr. Brown in March of 1993. My position was Lab Technician. In my 13 years I have also learned to schedule, assist, work with sterilization, take diagnostic records, x-rays and Dolphin Imaging.
I enjoy working with the staff and patients. I have made many friends in this practice. It’s rewarding to see the retainers I make hold the patients smile which is much better now than when I took their diagnostic records. The patients are great people.
I am married to my Best Friend Wes. He works for Allison Fence Co. and is the warehouse manager. We have been married for 3 years and have a wonderful addition to our life, our beautiful daughter, Piper. As a family we enjoy softball and traveling to games.

My orthodontic journey began 27 years ago with Dr. John L Thompson for whom I worked 22 years. By 2002 Dr. Thomas Brown graciously assumed the challenge as my employer. He continually educates his employees on the engineering processes involved and introduced me to many technological advancements that have brought efficiency and comfort to the orthodontic experience.
I am certified in dental radiology and am certified by the Dental Assisting National Board. I love my husband, Chuck (most of the time), birds, nature, gardening, and anything outdoors. I love my golden retriever, Buffy. (all the time). Also, sharing my devotion are son, Wes, his wife Emily and granddaughter Abby.

I joined Dr. Brown and Staff in 2002 after being a stay at home mom for several years. I graduated from CPCC with a degree in dental assisting in 1979. After training my first year as an orthodontic assistant, I began the position of Treatment Coordinator. I truly enjoy educating parents and patients on the “how’s and why’s of orthodontics.
I am married to my wonderful husband Vince. We have three children, Randall, Mark and Catherine.

After graduating from CPCC in 2006 as a dental assistant, I began working as an orthodontic assistant. The opportunity to work at the front desk became available to me with Dr. Brown’s office in June, 2007.
I enjoy all aspects of orthodontics, especially seeing our patient’s smiles after having their braces removed.
The light of my life is my four year old son, Zach, who occupies most of my free time.
